Minami

Growing up between Japanese and French cultures, Minami has always questioned the concept of boundaries. The sense of displacement and solitude she experienced became the foundation of her artistic practice.

At the core of her work lies the visualization of the “in-between,” the liminal spaces between identities, reincarnation, and memory.

Since her first solo exhibition eN in 2021, she has exhibited globally. Working across painting, sculpture, video, and installation, she continues to challenge conventional forms of expression, and has also ventured into film production. Now based in Tokyo, Paris, and Los Angeles, she constantly seeks new ways to transcend artistic and cultural boundaries.

Grandir entre les cultures japonaise et française a conduit Minami à questionner la notion de frontière. Le sentiment de déplacement et de solitude vécu devient le fondement de sa démarche artistique. Au cœur de son travail : la visualisation de l’« entre-deux », ces espaces liminaux entre les identités, la réincarnation et la mémoire. Depuis sa première exposition solo eN en 2021, elle expose à travers le monde. Peinture, sculpture, vidéo, installation. Elle interroge les formes conventionnelles de l’expression, et s’engage également dans la production cinématographique. Basée entre Tokyo, Paris et Los Angeles, elle cherche sans cesse à transcender les frontières artistiques et culturelles.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

日本とフランス、二つの文化のあいだで育った美波は、常に境界というものと向き合ってきた。そのなかで感じた孤独や浮遊感が、彼女の創作の原点となり、幼少期から独学でさまざまな手法を試みながら、表現の幅を広げてきた。

作品の中心にあるのは、「狭間（はざま）」の可視化。アイデンティティや輪廻、記憶のあいだに存在する曖昧で見えにくい空間を探り、形にすることを目指している。

2021年の初個展「eN」以降、国内外で作品を発表し続け、絵画、彫刻、映像、インスタレーションなど多様なメディウムで既存の表現形式に挑み続けている。近年は映画制作にも取り組んでおり、現在は東京・パリ・ロサンゼルスを拠点に、芸術と文化の境界を越える新たな表現を模索している。​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
