Harmony – iMANiM

I started this painting with the beautiful but poisonous "Angel Trumpet". This flower is in full bloom in my yard. As I was gazing at it thoughtfully on a hot afternoon, a large honeybee came and took in the flower's aroma. The bees flew away in ecstasy, intoxicated and satisfied. I wanted to smell it too, so I put my nose to it and took a deep breath. Then, I was engulfed by a huge stormy wave of delusion. No matter how hard I swam, I was swept out to sea. My breath became labored, and I ripped this trumpet flower from my nose. I left the "Angel Trumpet" in a daze. Since that day, I've been a little strange.

この絵の描くきっかけはうちの庭先に存分に咲いている美しくも毒のある“エンジェル・トランペット“との体験がきっかけだった。暑い昼下がり、そのラッパ状の花びらを眺めていたら、ミツバチやってきた。吸い寄せられるように、花を嗅いでいる。しばらくして、恍惚と酔いしれた昆⾍は満⾜そうに⾶んでいった。私も、真似するかのように嗅いでみた。とたん、妄想という⼤きな荒波に飲み込まれた。泳いでも泳いでも何かの強い⼒に押し流された。息がやがて苦しくなり、ようやく⿐を花びらから引き剥がした。ふらふらと、“エンジェル・トランペット“を後にした。その⽇から、私は少しおかしい。
