Minimisation – iMANiM

When I begin to paint, I never know how it will end. As I keep moving the brush, the original shapes start to take on meaning, becoming a story. It feels the same when I’m acting—emotions of the character rise up on their own. I place those fragments into the narrative and connect them to the role. The more detailed I get, the freer I become… And when the curtain falls, I always think: “If only I could start from the beginning and create it all over again.”

絵を描き始めるときはいつも、終わりも分からず描いている。筆を進めていくうちに原型に意味が表れ、物語となる。お芝居をしているときも、同じような気持ちになる。役の感情が湧いてくる。その細切れを物語にはめていき役に繋がる。細かく描き込むほど自由になれる...芝居の幕が閉じると、あぁ。もう一回初めから創り直せたらっといつも思う。
